Sunkenberg

Lula Joyce Booth Sunkenberg was born April 14, 1928, during the depression, in Cherokee to James and Lottie Booth and will be celebrating her 90th birthday this year.

Their family had a hard time as did many others. She spent most of her life working to help with the family expenses.

She graduated from Chicago Correspondence School in 1947, and spent her life working in grocery stores, discount stores and Hotel Tangney.

Sunkenberg met and married a wonderful man from Spencer and they spent 48 years together. She says that was a happy life worth a million dollars for her. He was Everett Sunkenberg. The date of the marriage was June 29, 1964, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

They spent 30 years in Mesa, Ariz., after Everett retired. Sunkenberg worked at the Phoenix Zoo for three years. After losing Everett, she has moved back to Spencer.
