When the Marshalltown Evening Lions club is made aware of a need that has not yet been met, it answers the call. We serve. Lynne Carol with the Big Brothers /Big Sisters organization mentioned to President Estabrook of a need of funding for the cost of swim lessons at the YMCA/YWCA for “the littles” ages preK through second grade. Even though Lions currently has a fundraiser in progress, the available cash was insufficient. That’s when Marshalltown Evening Lions member, Marty Mitchell dove in with his match. Mitchell has had first hand experience as to how important it is for children to learn to swim. “None of us want to experience the heartache of ‘the river incident’ again” Lion Mitchell said. The Marshalltown Evening Lions are able to present a check in the amount of $1,500 to cover the cost of the 2024-25 BB/BS “Littles” swim program.
