Spinning Wheel Chapter holds last 2024 meeting
The Spinning Wheel Chapter NSDAR had its last meeting of the year on Nov. 16 at the Embers coffee shop. There were nine members and one guest present.
Vice Regent Ann Heying gave the program. Her great great aunt Anna Eliza Scott Block was a founding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, #337 in 1891. Member numbers are now in the 6,000s. Block served as Vice Regent and was instrumental in the founding of Constitution Hall.
Regent Cathy Hanson and Chaplin Michelle Ankrum opened the meeting with the Ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance and the American’s Creed.
Minutes were read by Secretary Pro Tem Diane Hobson; they were approved as read. Linda Schaper volunteered to give the Indian Minute at future meetings. Ankrum reported sending 14 birthday cards and one get-well card.
Registrar Emilie Freiberg gave the protocol on proper clothing to be warn at meetings and wearing of ribbons with the pins. Veterans representative Hobson reported receiving a thank-you card for the Bingo prizes given to the Iowa Veterans Home.
Hostesses were Hanson and Heying. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Jan. 18, 2025, at the Embers. Hostess will be Ankrum.
