Cross and Raue present program to Evening Lions

The Marshalltown Evening Lions recently welcomed Marshalltown Fire Chief Chris Cross and Captain Curtis Raue to its monthly meeting. They were guest speakers and received the funds raised by the Marshalltown Evening Lions for a new fully equipped Fast Rescue Board for the Marshalltown Fire Department.
Cross and Raue explained how beneficial the Fast Rescue Board will be in helping team members, as the board will greatly assist in helping to save a downed firefighter, trapped or injured. Not only is the equipped and compact Fast Rescue Board able to cut time to retrieve a crucial firefighter from danger, it is also multifunctional and will be able to assist with water rescues, among other assists. Raue mentioned he had recently attended an enlightening seminar on the Fast Rescue Board similar to what they will be purchasing, with training sessions to follow. The dollars presented to the Marshalltown Fire Department from the Marshalltown Evening Lions were generated from its goal-setting, “fall quarter” nut and candy sales fundraiser. Cross extended their gratitude to the Marshalltown Evening Lions Club for taking the time to single out the Marshalltown Fire Department and for making them the focus of its fundraising proceeds. He reiterated that the efforts were very humbling, and they are being received with gratitude and very much appreciated.
If people too would like to serve the community through efforts such as these, join the Marshalltown Evening Lions on the first Wednesday of the month, 6:30 p.m. at Legends American Grill. And/or contact President Deb Estabrook at 641-751-0611 for more information. We serve!
