• Mitchell Graw O’Hare made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. O’Hare pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Aaliyah Lataviana Floyd made an initial appearance on a trespass-first offense charge and a person under 21 using tobacco/vapor products-first offense charge. Floyd pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the trespass is $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354. The fine on the possession of tobacco/vapor is $70.
• Brandon Ross Whitmore made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 9. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Alec Sanchez made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. Scott Hunter is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 9. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Dylan Michael Frye made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge and an assault charge. The preliminary hearing was waived. Bond will continue as posted.
• Brian Joseph Hatch failed to appear on a rabies vaccination violation charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Diego Nathanel Murillo made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 10 in Magistrate Court.
June 18
• Justin Dewayne Chlupach made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The contempt hearing is set for 10:15 a.m. on June 28. Bond is set at $2,000 cash. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Daphne Michele Doland made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, an operating a non-registered vehicle charge and a no insurance charge. Doland pleaded guilty to all charges. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50. The fine on the non-registered vehicle is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50. The fine on the no insurance is $325 with a $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75.
• Benjamin Silva Pinales made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Patrick Peters is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 8.
• Guy Lee Williams made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Mark Torche is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• On Tuesday, June 18, Alec Sanchez, 20, was arrested for no insurance-no accident, no valid driver’s license and operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Monday, June 17, Daphne Doland, 48, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended, operating a non-registered vehicle and no insurance-no accident.
• On Monday, June 17, Tyler Jordan, 32, was arrested on a warrant charging him with driving while barred-habitual offender.
• On Saturday, June 15, Michael Willits III, 29, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana-first offense and speeding.
• On Saturday, June 15, Austin Brittney, 28, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Friday, June 14, Marco Venegas, 44, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.
Accidents
• On Thursday, June 13, an SUV driven by Cynthia Marie Kaponga, 51, of Altoona, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. Kaponga received minor abrasions. Damage to the Kaponga SUV was estimated at $10,000.
• On Monday, June 10, a car driven by Brady Lee Robert Bordner, 34, of Oelwein, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bordner car was estimated at $10,000.
• On Sunday, June 9, a car driven by Kaitlyn Marie Riha, 22, of Ames, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Riha car was estimated at $5,000.
• On Friday, June 7, a car driven by Francisco Candido Soto, 59, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Sanford Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Soto car was estimated at $2,500.
• On Friday, June 7, a pickup driven by Ronald Dean Andrews, 78, of Marion, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer in the roadway receiving heavy front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Andrews pickup was estimated at $10,000.
