• Juan Carlos Gonzalez Jr. made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge and a failure to appear for an arraignment charge. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled for 1 p.m. on July 26 with the jury trial scheduled for 9 a.m. on Aug. 8. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on July 31. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only in the defendant’s name only.
• Cedano D.J. Thomas made an initial appearance on a sexual abuse-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 29. Bond is set at $1,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Trisha Lynn Wilder made an initial appearance on a rabies vaccination violation charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 21 in Magistrate Court.
• Jenelle Sara Kellin made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Kellin pleaded guilty and the fine is $400 with a $60 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $520.
• A 15-year-old female made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. The juvenile pleaded guilty and the fine is $450 with a $67.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $577.50.
• A 14-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Ronnique Winter Henderson failed to appear on a no insurance charge and a speeding charge and the court found her guilty on both charges. The fine on the no insurance is $325 with a $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75. The fine on the speeding charge is $55 with a $8.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $118.25.
• Nyasiah Kylia Gully made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 6. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• John Wayne Cole made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Cole pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Tiffany Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a theft-fifth degree charge; on a driving under suspension charge, an interference with official acts charge, a possession or carrying of weapons charge while under the influence, a possession/purchase of alcohol age 18/19/20-first offense charge and an operating while under the influence-first offense charge. A pre-trial conference for the theft-fifth degree and drug paraphernalia charges is set for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 21 in Magistrate Court. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for all the other charges. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 6. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

Accidents
• On Tuesday, July 16, a car driven by Sharon Elsie Mochal, 61, of Newton, was northbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mochal car was estimated at $5,500.
• On Saturday, July 13, a car driven by Jalyn Sara Streif, 22, of Urbandale, was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the road from the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Streif car was estimated at $3,000.
• On Thursday, July 11, a car driven by Marissa Lynn Hartman, 42, of Charles City, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hartman car was estimated at $6,000.
