• Joshua Marvin Powell made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of probation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore will continue as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2025. Powell is being held without bond.

• Juan Pablo Lopez Ortiz made an initial appearance on a failure to appear charge. The District Associate Court will set the next court date. Bond is set at $1,000 in defendant’s name only.

• Ethan Michael Garrett made an initial appearance on a selling or furnishing alcohol to minors charge. Garrett pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• Odilon Aguilera Lopez made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Aguilera Lopez pleaded guilty. No fine was assessed. Court costs of $60 were charged.

• Xavier Angel Chavez made an initial appearance on a simple assault charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025, in Magistrate Court.

• Dicilma Yanira Hernandez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Blaine Douglas Daniel made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge and a violation of one-way designation charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

Accidents

• On Sunday, Dec. 8, a car driven by Eulalio M. Gamboa, 65, of Brooklyn, was southbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gamboa car was estimated at $3,000.
