• David Duane Propp made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a plea hearing charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Mark Torche is counsel for both charges. The plea hearing is rescheduled for 12 p.m. on April 16. The possession of drug paraphernalia pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 16 in Magistrate Court.

• Marshall Freeman Hooper made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of probation charge. Jennifer Weaver is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Hooper is being held without bond.

• Gary Alan Corwin made an initial appearance on a controlled substance violation charge and a failure to affix a drug stamp charge. Patrick Peters is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 4. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Jatnael Alvizo Sanchez made an initial appearance on a speeding charge, a dark window/windshield charge, a driving under suspension charge, a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge, a reflector requirement charge, a failure to yield to emergency vehicle charge and an interference with official acts charge. Mark Torche is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 23 in Magistrate Court.

• Brittney Ann Hansen made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 30 in Magistrate Court.

• Jorge Eduardo Gomez Chavarria made an initial appearance on an ineligible to carry weapon charge, a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. Dusty Clements is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 15. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

Accidents

• On Friday, March 21, an SUV driven by Francisco Ernesto Amaya, 30, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Marin Street Road when it struck a turkey which entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Amaya SUV was estimated at $1,500.
