Gregg Young Auto Group acquires Clemons Chevrolet
Another Marshalltown business has changed hands this past month after Gregg Young Auto Group acquired Clemons Chevrolet located on 2909 S Center St. in early December.
Clemons Chevrolet had been operating in Marshalltown since 1998, but when owner and operator Mike Clemons decided to retire and sell the business, new General Manager Scott Brown said buying it was a chance the Gregg Young Auto Group could not pass up.
“We thought it was an amazing opportunity,” Brown said. “We believe it can be an extremely successful place because of where it’s at, because of the size of the community and the growth, and the traffic coming in and out of this place is very promising. So we look forward to growing it.”
Fueled by a personal relationship between Clemons and Gregg Young himself, Brown says Clemons reached out to Young because, “he wanted to make sure it went in the right hands” for their customers in Marshalltown.
The Marshalltown dealership joins 15 dealerships across nine locations in Nebraska and Iowa under the Gregg Young flag.
Now part of the larger network, Brown says customers will have access to a greater catalog of cars available for sale, particularly pre owned automobiles.
“We pretty much have anything and everything that somebody would want that is available to purchase through this dealership. If anybody went on our website, they would see all the inventory from all our stores, which is available at any store, we sell within all our locations [for] the preowned vehicles,” Brown said. “One of our big things that the people in the community of Marshalltown are going to notice is the options they’re going to have with inventory. I mean, it’s pretty much a one stop shop with the inventory that we have available.”
Already with dealerships in similar sized communities such as Newton, Norwalk, and Indianola, Marshalltown is right in line with previous traditions established by Gregg Young Auto Group.
“It’s our type of thing,” Brown said. “We love coming into midsize communities… and building a very respectable dealership and supporting the community.”
With an eye on the future, Brown was all praise concerning their fledgling business in Marshalltown.
“The building’s beautiful. The location is amazing,” Brown said. “We were just really looking forward to a lot of growth, and, I’m being very serious when I say this, to get involved with the community in just about every way we can.”
Though the building still has Clemons signage, Gregg Young Chevrolet Marshalltown is currently open for business and has retained all employees previously employed by Clemons Chevrolet.
The dealership can be reached by phone at 866-634-4792 with sales open Monday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
