Fatal accident reported in State Center
STATE CENTER — An Ames man died Thursday morning as the result of a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Durham Avenue and Highway 30 in State Center.
At 8:42 a.m., the Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a multi-vehicle crash at the aforementioned location, and deputies arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved in the collision. Bruce York, 43, of Ames, was deceased at the scene, and the other two drivers — Anthony Trca, 27, of Norway and Lisa Halter, 42, of State Center — were uninjured.
Iowa State Patrol troopers were contacted and conducted a technical crash investigation at the scene. The initial investigation at the scene determined that an eastbound vehicle was making a left turn and was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, and the names of drivers involved have not been released pending notification of family. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by State Center Fire and EMS, UnityPoint Ambulance, the State Center Police Department, the Marshall County Medical Examiner’s Office and State Center Public Works.
