The Binford House marked its 150th anniversary during a celebration Sunday at and around the historical site located at 110 N. 2nd Avenue in Marshalltown. Tours were offered at the Binford House, Glick-Sower House and Taylor No. 4 Schoolhouse led by tour guides in era-appropriate attire. At the nearby pavilion in the shadow of the Binford House, the Marshall County Cattlemen served hamburgers for visitors to enjoy while hourly musical guests provided entertainment. Kids games were also provided on the hour, including a gunny sack race, raw egg carry race and bubble-gum-blowing contest. At 4 p.m., the celebration was capped with a tug of war contest between the Marshalltown Police Department, the Marshalltown Fire Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
