Marshalltown man facing attempted murder charge arrested for violating pretrial release

A local man wanted for violating his pretrial release originating from charges of attempted murder, two counts of willful injury and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon was arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Ktwo Esa, 21, of Marshalltown was taken into custody on his active warrants for violating his pretrial release. Esa was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he is awaiting an initial appearance.

In December of 2023, MPD officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the 200 block of North 1st Avenue for a reported assault. A 30-year-old female reported that a male came to her residence and began assaulting her with a bat, striking her in the arms and head. A 75-year-old male bystander witnessed the assault, intervened and was also struck with the bat in the arm.

The investigation identified Esa as a suspect. A search warrant was executed at 549 North 3rd St., and Esa was located and taken into custody.
