Marshalltown murder suspect in custody in California
The Marshalltown Police Department continues to investigate a shooting that occurred outside of the Center Street Station Bar on June 1. Victor Antonio Delgadillo, 18, of Marshalltown is wanted on the charge of first degree murder in connection with the death of 41-year-old Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves, also of Marshalltown.
On Friday, law enforcement authorities in Anaheim, Calif. were involved in an investigation involving Delgadillo, and an officer involved shooting occurred during this investigation, according to a press release from the MPD. Delgadillo was reportedly shot during the incident and has been taken to a hospital. His status is not known.
According to preliminary information, no law enforcement officers were injured.
“Our investigation is continuing. I want to make that very clear. It appears that Mr. Delgadillo has been located. We’re waiting on some confirmation from medical personnel. It’s unfortunate that this happened. None of this needed to happen,” Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper said. “It’s a tragedy for our community. I’m thankful that law enforcement officers are safe, but there are still more individuals who we believe assisted Mr. Delgadillo, and they should be held accountable.”
Tupper added that the MPD recently received information that led investigators to California, and the U.S. Marshal Service pursued the lead and located him.
