Pursuit ends in arrest, driver receives multiple charges
A pursuit on South Center Street on Tuesday ended with Aaron Parrish Scalabrini being arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department.
On Tuesday MPD officers were dispatched to Walmart, responding to a report of an intoxicated man. When they arrived on scene, they made contact with Scalabrini in his car. Scalabrini, 54, of Newton, fled in his car, backing into a patrol car and an additional parked vehicle in the lot. The other vehicle was occupied and the occupant sustained a minor injury.
A short pursuit ensued to the 2600 block of South Center Street where officers attempted to end it. Scalabrini began driving erratically in reverse and officers used their patrol vehicles to stop him and two MPD patrol vehicles sustained damage. He was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail. No officers were injured in the incident.
Scalabrini is charged with:
Eluding
First offense, operation while intoxicated (OWI)
Driving while revoked for OWI test failure
Interference with official acts
Public urination
14 traffic violation counts
The charges are accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
