It’s been an interesting journey with unexpected twists and turns for local boutique Oliver Beene Designs, but the store celebrated its five-year anniversary over the weekend with a host of specials and special customer appreciation perks including snacks and wine slushies. The business, which is owned by Rhonda and Lora Braudis, originally opened at the Meadow Lane Mall before moving to the Marshalltown Mall in February of 2023. Nine months later, however, they were forced to close under orders from the fire marshal due to now-former mall owner Kohan Retail Investment Group’s continuous nonpayment of utility bills. The Braudises acted quickly and moved to their “final destination” at 214 E. Main St. late in November of 2023 with 8,000 square feet of space, and they continue to enjoy strong support among customers traveling from both near and far.
