MCBD welcomes Lekin as new executive director

Lekin
The Marshalltown Central Business District announces the hiring of Danielle Lekin as its new executive director, effective March 1.
With a strong background in nonprofit finance, community engagement and stakeholder relations, Lekin brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role as she steps in to lead the organization into its next chapter.
A recent transplant to Marshalltown, Lekin has long admired the vibrancy of the city and is eager to contribute to its ongoing growth and revitalization efforts. Her professional experience spans multiple sectors, including financial management, grant writing, public speaking and program development. She has successfully managed budgets, built strong relationships with community partners and spearheaded initiatives to raise awareness and secure funding for critical programs.
Lekin’s expertise in stakeholder engagement, advocacy and inclusive leadership makes her an excellent fit to lead MCBD in its mission to support and enhance downtown Marshalltown. Her ability to collaborate with businesses, local leaders and residents will be a key asset in fostering growth and revitalization efforts.
She steps into the role following the dedicated leadership of Deb Millizer, who has been instrumental in advancing MCBD’s initiatives and strengthening downtown Marshalltown.
“Deb has left a strong foundation, and Danielle’s experience in finance, community relations and nonprofit leadership — combined with her enthusiasm for Marshalltown — make her an excellent choice to continue to guide MCBD forward,” said Alushia Fitzgerald, board president of MCBD. “Her ability to collaborate with stakeholders, manage resources effectively and advocate for our local businesses will be invaluable as we continue our efforts to strengthen and preserve our downtown.”
As Executive Director, Lekin will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with local businesses, city leaders and community members while leading key initiatives that promote economic growth and downtown development. She is eager to build on the organization’s successes and looks forward to working closely with Marshalltown’s downtown residents and business community.
“I am incredibly excited to step into this role and serve the Marshalltown community in such a meaningful way,” said Lekin. “Downtown Marshalltown has a rich history and a bright future, and I’m honored to be part of the efforts to make it an even more vibrant and welcoming place.”
MCBD invites community members and business owners to join in welcoming Lekin as she officially begins her role on March 3.
