Toddler dies from injuries sustained in house fire
A 3-year-old Marshalltown girl who was rescued from a house fire on Monday succumbed to injuries and died early Wednesday morning.
She was taken by air to the Iowa City University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in critical condition. Two Marshalltown Fire Department firefighters found her unconscious on the second floor of a house fire at 505 E. Church St. Within two minutes, the girl was brought outside and CPR was started immediately.
The fire department used two attack lines to battle the house fire. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the MFD and the Marshalltown Police Department. The Iowa State Fire Marshal Special Agents have been called to assist.
The family is being supported by the American Red Cross and other family members.
