G-R school board to fill Wentzien’s vacant director seat by appointment
Interested individuals asked to contact board secretary

Wentzien
REINBECK – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board is in need of a new director following Jordan Wentzien’s resignation earlier this month.
“I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign from the school board effective immediately,” Wentzien wrote in a letter dated April 4. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving as a Gladbrook-Reinbeck Board member. The opportunity to contribute to the district and community has been a privilege. Due to personal reasons, I am not able to continue sitting on the board.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I’ve truly valued the experience of working with such a strong and dedicated team. I wish the best for the district and board going forward.”
Wentzien, a preschool teacher with the Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) and resident of Gladbrook, was appointed to the board in January of 2024 to fill a vacancy left by Tyler Morgan. Before her appointment, she ran as a write-in candidate during the Nov. 2023 election, earning 222 votes behind write-in candidate Richard (Dick) Keith, who received 309 votes. Keith currently serves on the board.
Those interested in filling Wentzien’s vacancy must be an eligible elector (United States citizen, Iowa resident, at least 18 years old) and reside in the G-R Community School District.
The individual appointed will serve in the role through Nov. 2025. The seat will then be on the ballot during the regular city and school election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025.
“[T]he Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board has established a process for selecting and appointing an individual to fill the unexpired term of office. It is important to note that all portions of the appointment are public,” the school district posted on social media this past Wednesday in announcing the vacancy. “The board of directors is currently considering appointments and an appointment will be made at an upcoming board meeting.”
Interested individuals are asked to reach out to Christine Harms, G-R board secretary, at christine.harms@gr-rebels.net.
In addition to the vacancy, the 2025 G-R school board includes president Donovan Devore, vice president Matt Wyatt, Rod Brockett, Christine Farley, Richard Keith, and Doug Rowe.
The next regular board meeting will be held on Thursday, April 24, in Reinbeck beginning at 7 p.m.
