LE GRAND — The S.E.A.L. (Students Empowering And Leading) members, a philanthropic group of high school students from East Marshall Community School District, were awarded money provided by the Community Foundation of Marshall County and the Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation, to grant funds to 501c3 tax-exempt organization and government and charitable organizations that serve Marshall County.

The S.E.A.L.s were learning about a variety of needs within Marshall County and focused the grantmaking on programs or projects that support individuals that are in the A.L.I.C.E. (Asset Limited Income Constrained, Employed) demographic, who often need one time assistance during a time of crisis.

S.E.A.L. members gave priority to organizations that provided for basic needs. Outreach, Inc. of Union, was honored to be one of the Grant Recipients, receiving $1,500. Outreach delivered 3,750 servings of its nutritious Rice and Bean meals to the ISU Extension Office in Marshalltown, coordinating with Amy Pieper, for distribution through the Little Free Pantry Program which is connected to a student philanthropy program, providing food for the A.L.I.C.E. households in Marshall County. This grant award positively impacts the citizens of Marshall County, giving a hand up to A.L.I.C.E. households. The organizations mentioned above have worked together to make this project possible.

Starting at $4.38/week.
