Margery A. Eichorn (Yeggy), 94

Margery A. Eichorn (Yeggy), 94, wife of Emory Eichorn, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the home on the Iowa rolling hills that she and Emory loved so much on Saturday morning, February 12, 2022.

Marge was born July 11, 1927, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Murine (Bigley) Yeggy. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights College with a degree in early childhood education. Marge taught school and spent her summers traveling until she met her husband, Emory Eichorn in Ames, Iowa, when he was a student and ISU football player. They married in 1952 and settled in Marshalltown, Iowa, after Emory’s military service.

Having been raised on a farm, Marge had a lifelong love of the outdoors and a prized two-acre garden. She was an avid golfer and Cyclone football and basketball fan. But mostly, she enjoyed time with her husband and family, especially the many summers and holidays she and Emory spent with their four grandchildren on their farm south of Marshalltown.

Her family includes her husband of sixty-nine years, Emory; daughters: Cathy, Julie (Joe Crosby), and Susan (Jay Lynch); four grandchildren: Lauren Crosby, Michael Crosby, Patrick Lynch and Sydney Lynch and one great grandchild, Palmer Lynch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion.

A private family service will be conducted to celebrate her life. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mitchell Funeral Home. For further information or to send Marge’s family a condolence, please visit mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.
