Dennis “Denny” Allen Anderson, 75, of State Center, Iowa, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family on September 28, 2023.
Services for Dennis will take place on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He will be laid to rest at Marietta Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed in Denny’s name to the Mary Greeley Foundation (Diabetes & Nutrition Center) in Ames, IA, or West Marshall Foundation in State Center, IA. Dennis was born August 11, 1948, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to parents Ralph O. and Thelma (Selvig) Anderson. He graduated from West Marshall High School in 1967. He continued his education at the University of Iowa where he had many memories made and met many friends before moving back to the family farm. He farmed and raised cattle and hogs.
He was the father of one son, Erin. On January 15, 2018, Denny was united in marriage to his longtime sweetheart, Susan Goecke, on the 103rd floor of the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas surrounded by their families.
He loved to spend time with his family and see his granddaughters. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and his old college buddies, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching Grit TV and Fox News. Many German Shepherd dogs were close companions through the years.
He was an active member in the Marshall County Pheasants Forever Club, the NRA, the Iowa Republican Party and Elim Lutheran Church of Marshalltown.
Denny is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Erin (Taryn) Anderson; his granddaughters: Adalyn, Alyvia, and Andrea; his father, Ralph O. Anderson; his siblings, Audrey Goecke and Sally (Don) Wogen; four nephews: Bill Goecke, Chuck Goecke, Darin Wogen and Brian Wogen and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma; his mother and father-in-law, Clifford and Inez Goecke and brother-in-law, Doug Goecke.
