Priscilla Joy Heil

Priscilla Joy Heil (Quick) of Henderson Nevada passed away on Saturday September 7, 2024, at home in Henderson Nv with husband William and Abby at her side.

Priscilla Joy was born on January 24, 1947 to Floyd Merle “Todd” and Katherine (Spake) Quick at the Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown Iowa. Priscilla (Pris) attended Marshalltown schools while living at their family home on Linn Street with her parents, three brothers and a sister. She graduated high school in 1965, she met William Heil while still in school and they married November 27, 1965. After William (Bill) completed his electronic school, he and Pris moved to Waseca, Minnesota to work and start their family.

Pris and Bill were both active in the Jaycees while living in Waseca. Pris and Bill decided to take advantage of a unique business opportunity and moved with their three daughters to Estherville Iowa. They opened Jakes Pizza of Estherville in the fall of 1969, Pris was co-manager of the shop and active in the daily operations. Both were active at St Patrick’s Catholic church there and Pris even took a turn as Altar and Rosary president. Holiday meals were so special because Pris was a wonderful cook, always serving old favorites and impressive delicious new dishes.

After closing down their food business, Bill took a worldwide position With AAFES in 1988. While Bill was assigned to Germany, Pris sharpened her cooking skills with the local cuisine. Upon moving to England, she enjoyed dog walking the neighborhood observing the lovely gardens, falling in love with the gorgeous hydrangeas. While in Europe Pris had several different positions at the DODDs schools while also caring for their youngest two children. Pris and Bill enjoyed each other and the opportunity to travel and visit many of the different countries of Europe, which always included shopping for wonderful glass in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Murano glass in Italy.

Bill retired from AAFES in 2007, and with Pris, decided to do so in Las Vegas Nevada. Bill was once assigned there at Nellis AFB where Karie, their youngest child, was still living. Both continued working for a few more years, with Pris at a customer service position at Kohls. They spent their leisure time traveling, mostly visiting kids and grandkids. They enjoyed their time together watching Pris’s Hummingbirds and walking their dog in the quiet neighborhood of their Sun City home, most especially when family and friends came to visit.

Left to cherish Priscilla’s memory are her loving husband William, five children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Maureen of Hagerstown, MD, Jennifer Ross (David) and Landi of Trinidad Tx, Colette Munce (Greg), Sydney (Hartman)(Emmett, and Isla), Hannah (Max) and Isaac of Sioux Falls SD, Andrew (Courtney) Redfield and Georgiana of Moline IL, And Karie Baima (Ken), Isabelle, Joseph and Michael of Louisburg Ks. Priscilla is also survived by two brothers Philip of Newton IA and Todd of San Antonio Tx. She was preceded in death by her parents Todd and Katherine, sister Denise and brother Patrick.

Priscilla’s ashes will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown Ia. A Celebration of Life and graveside service will be held for family and friends at a yet to be determined date. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Of Las Vegas NV.
