Mike was born November 20, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa, attended St. Joseph School there until their move to Plano, Texas, in 1978. Mike was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church, Plano, Texas. Mike graduated from Plano High School in 1983. He was an exceptional guitarist and song writer.

Mike is survived by his brother Greg Balvin (Sandy), P.O. Box 3077, Alpine, Wyo.; brother Ed Balvin (Karen) in Texas, Aunt Alice Nicholson and many cousins.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa, next to his parents with Deacon Mark Dolash officiating on Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m.
