Carl was born on October 13, 1943 at home in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Lee Calvin and Beulah (Keese) Osgood. He graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1961. He went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Upon his return, he was married to Karol Coffin on November 12, 1966. Though later divorced, this union was blessed with the birth of his daughter. Carl met Judy (Elliott) Hazen through church, and especially connected during their involvement with the church choir. On June 27, 1980 they were united in marriage at Central Christian Church. They raised their three children together in Marshalltown and have enjoyed their 44 years of wedded bliss.

Carl worked several sales jobs in his early years, including ten years for Napa Auto Parts. He found his true passion in insurance, deeply caring about the protection and well-being of all the families he served. He dedicated over 26 years of service as an American Family Agent prior to his retirement. Within the insurance industry, he won many sales awards for which he felt extremely proud. Though Carl stayed busy with his agency, he found time to faithfully serve in multiple roles at Central Christian Church. He was everything from choir member, to Sunday school teacher, chairman of the board and elder. He also sang baritone and tenor for over 20 years with the Missionaires, a local gospel singing group, and was a member of the Noon Optimist Club and the American Legion. He also enjoyed squeezing in a round of golf whenever he had the chance. With all of Carl’s commitments, it was no wonder he was always running late! He had an unmistakable laugh and found joy in hearing others’ gathering around him. Carl loved his family more than anything in the world and will be missed by all those who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Judy; his three children: Kari (Rick) Krutsinger of Russell, IA, Jeff Hazen of Marshalltown and Chad (Sherlyn) Hazen of Winthrop, IA; grandchildren: Megan Reynolds (Cole Smith) of Pella, Brenna Reynolds of Chariton, Foster Hazen of Iowa City and AWS3 Cavon Hazen, US Navy, Norfolk, VA; his siblings: Melvin (Joyce) Osgood of Marshalltown and Howard (Karen) Osgood of Sebring, FL; foster sister-in-law Twyla Johnston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, Carl is reunited with his parents; siblings: Calvin, Richard, John, Jim, and Roger Osgood, Betty Jean Stanton, and two in infancy, George and Virginia; and his foster brother Dwaine Johnston.
