Beverly Miller-Mugge
Beverly Miller-Mugge, 79, of Garwin, IA, formerly of Gladbrook, IA passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Bickford of Marshalltown. Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Private family gathering and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Bev was born June 12, 1945 to Ward and Velda (Gould) Walter. She lived on a farm in Albion until moving to the Conrad area with her parents and sister Bonnie (Zink). She graduated in 1963 from Beaman Conrad and was married the same year to Marion Miller. She gave birth to her first child Brett in 1964 and her daughter, Jodee in 1968.They lived in rural Beaman until moving to their family farm in Gladbrook in 1973. She spent her years being an artist – working for Apgar studios, starting her own pottery/ceramic/candle business while teaching classes in her home. In 1986, she started her business, The Country Cupboard and years later reopened as Old Mill Road. She also enjoyed writing both children’s books for her grandkids and publishing three novels in her later years.
At retirement, she and her husband Marion moved to their dream home on a bluff in Kirbyville, Missouri. After Marion’s passing in 2015, she moved back to Gladbrook to be close to family. After returning, she reconnected with a friend from high school, Steve Mugge, whom she later married in 2024. Bev and Steve enjoyed living at Union Grove Lake until a health crisis caused them to enter Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown.
Bev is survived by her son Brett (Beth) Miller, her daughter Jodee (Jim) Stoakes, grandchildren Justin (Anna) Miller, Hannah (Tanner) Thompson, Katie (Tanner) Hulst, Evan (MaKenna) Stoakes, Emily (Andrew) Skinner, Ellie (Justin) Dilks and Eric (Natalie) Stoakes. She is also survived by her beloved great grandchildren Kinley, Dellyn, Vinny, Tucker, Everly, Theo, Ada, Graham and Soren as well as her sister Bonnie and many nieces and nephews. Along with her family, she is loved and survived by her bonus family, the Mugge Family – including Steve, Mark (Julie) Mugge, Jeremy (Bridgette) Mugge and Robyn (Doug) Heisdorffer along with their many kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion, parents Ward and Velda, and brother-in-law, Larry Zink
