Memorial services for Pat will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the Iowa River Hospice. Patricia Louise Jones was born on September 24, 1933 in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of F.M. “Casey” and Leona (May) Jones. Pat graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1951. On June 26, 1954, Pat was united in marriage to Thomas D. Adkins at First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Pat and Tom lived in the Laurel area from 1954 until 1981, then in Ankeny for 10 years until Pat retired and they moved back home to Marshalltown. Pat worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell for 40 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother, Sunday school teacher and member of the local Birthday Card Club. She was a volunteer for CAPS and the Happy Bear program which educated and protected children from child abuse. Pat enjoyed bowling, square dancing, reading, taking photos of her family, and watching baseball and football; cheering on the Ravens and Chiefs.

Pat is survived by her children: Maren (Jamie) Shively, Cindy Adkins, and Jennifer (Nicki Reed) Adkins. Grandchildren: Chance (Danica) Adkins, Bobbi Adkins, Randi Adkins, Will Zeran, JT Shively, Kaycee (Steve) Busma, Brandi (Ken) Wyckoff and Abagale (Anthony) Bock. She is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband: Thomas; parents: Casey and Leona; son: Richard “Doc” Adkins; brother: Richard Lewis Jones and a granddaughter in infancy: Myah.
