Obituary for Jack M. Kenison

Jack M. Kenison, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the Oldorf Hospice House, at the age of 94. Born on May 28, 1930, in Arnold's Park, Iowa, The son of Charles Selo Kenison and Ethel Carlton.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

On January 27, 1951, Jack married the love of his life, Darlene J. Ripple, in his hometown of Arnold's Park, Iowa. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Jack was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and dedicated his career to electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, retiring from IES power company.

Jack was an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal fan of the Iowa State Cyclones. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. Jack's hobbies included boating, especially on their pontoon boat, gardening and trying to keep the deer from eating his flowers.

Those left to cherish Jack's memory are his son, Bruce Kenison of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Jami (Harold) Jones, of Cedar Rapids, Kelli Kenison, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Margie (Michael) Fleming, of California; his great-grandchildren, Nora and Edie.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his wife, Darlene, and son Charles Kenison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
