Mary Frundle

Mary L. Frundle, age 97, of Montour, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Mary Lucille Long was born April 28, 1927 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Joseph and Amy (Culley) Long. Mary grew up on her family farm outside of Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School. She attended the Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. For the next 10 years, Mary worked for Dr. Blaha as his dental and office assistant.

On January 18, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Frundle at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She became a stay-at-home mom when Mary and Richard had their three children, Rob, Kathy and Mary Beth.

Mary, alongside Richard were members of the Montour United Methodist Church. She had a strong belief and was very devoted to her faith. After church they enjoyed lunch and fellowship with their friends. She loved being a homemaker and living on the family farm, where she spent many hours cooking and tending to her gardens. She loved her flowers and watching a variety of birds. Mary and Richard enjoyed many years of travel, viewing all the sites along the way, seeing family and friends across the US.

Family meant everything to her. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren taking them on special trips, sleepovers, and family time on the farm.

Mary is survived by her three children, Robert (Melissa) Frundle, Kathryn (Dan) Frundle and Mary Beth Frundle; six grandchildren, Annie (Jake), Sarah, Bekah (Sam), Jesse, Samantha (Tommy) and Zach; two great-grandchildren, Zion, Everett and one on the way. She also had many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard Frundle; her parents Joseph and Amy Long; and nine siblings.

Funeral Services for Mary will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown.
