Bev was born May 10, 1931, to Thomas and Mary (Opperman) Lannigan in Marshalltown where she was raised and graduated from Marshalltown High School. She married Gerald Caputo on April 20, 1952, at her parents’ house in Marshalltown. The two made their home on the farm in rural Conrad where Bev would grow her love for flower beds. She worked at Fisher Controls in exports and billing, and after retirement would work for Monsanto Global Seed. In her retirement she also had a business, BJ Country Garden, selling flowers and plants. She had a special love for her flower beds and took pride in her work. Bev was a member of the Iowa Regional Lily Society, North American Lily Society, American Hosta Society, and the American Peony Society. She was also a past member of the Iowa Daylily Society. Bev was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown and a past member of the Vienna Cemetery Society. She adored any time spent with her family and any time outside in her flower beds.

She will be missed by her children, David (Carla) Caputo of rural Marshalltown and Deanne Caputo of rural Conrad, two grandchildren, Justin Caputo of Union, IA and Brian (Lindsey) Caputo of rural Conrad, two great-grandchildren, Oaklee Caputo and Morgan Caputo, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry”, her son in infancy, Duane, her parents, and her siblings; Don Lannigan, Marilyn Landt, and Carol Lunde.
