Ginny, as she was affectionately known, was born in Garwin, Iowa, on November 24,1938, to Earl and Lola Nielsen. In her younger years, the family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, the town she always called home and where she was brought up with her beloved sister Margaret (“Margie”). Ginny and her husband of 49 years, Charles Dale Anderson, raised their two children, Jennifer and Scott, in Urbandale, Iowa.

Ginny worked for many years at Principal Financial Group making many lifelong friends. After retiring, Ginny focused her attention on her grandchildren, dogs, flowers and luncheons with her friends.

Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lola Nielsen, and husband Dale Anderson. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Earley; son, Scott (Linda) Anderson; grandchildren: Megan Anderson, Matthew Earley, and Joseph Earley; great grandchildren, Tessa Allen and Aubrielle Gwinn; sister Margaret (Joe) DeLeonardi and many cherished cousins and nieces.

A memorial service and reception will be held commencing at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Merle Hay Funeral Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA, with burial to immediately follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The service also will be live streamed for those who cannot attend.

The family is eternally grateful for the exceptional care, love and respect she received prior to her passing from the staff at Westview of Indianola and Suncrest Hospice. Contributions in her memory may be made to Suncrest Home Health and Hospice.
