This summer, earn college credit in your pajamas

Summer is just around the corner, and for many people, it’s a time to reset, recharge — and maybe even rethink their goals. At Iowa Valley Community College District, we’re making it easier than ever for students to stay on track or get ahead with fast, flexible, and affordable options that fit into even the busiest schedules.
This summer, Marshalltown Community College and Ellsworth Community College are offering a series of 5-week online classes that are perfect for working adults, high school students, college students home for the summer, and parents looking to boost their skills or knock out a required course — without ever leaving the house.
These online courses are designed for real life. They’re fast-paced, focused, and fully online. That means you can log in when it works for you — before work, after the kids go to bed, or even during your lunch break. And yes, you can absolutely complete them in your pajamas.
Why consider a 5-week online course this summer?
• Speed — These short-term classes are designed to get you in, learning, and done in just over a month.
• Flexibility — Online means no commute, no class times, no stress. Learn when and where it works for you.
• Affordability — Community college tuition is already a fraction of what you’d pay elsewhere, and summer courses are a great way to save even more.
• Transferability — Many of our courses are transferable to other colleges and universities. Students returning home for summer break can earn credits that count toward their degree.
• Momentum — Don’t lose progress over the summer. One class can keep your academic momentum going strong.
Whether you’re a parent looking for a career boost, a student wanting to graduate faster, or someone just curious about trying college for the first time — our summer online classes are built with you in mind.
Courses are available in the areas of Education, History, Coaching Authorization, Personal Wellness and Health, Intro to Religion, Psychology, Sociology, Social Problems, Marriage & Family, many of which are great general education courses.
Registration is open now, and these classes start at the end of May. You can submit an application found at the MCC or ECC websites and can select the “guest” student option; then you will receive information on how to register via email or you can contact admissions for help. Don’t miss the chance to turn your summer into something productive, affordable, and maybe even fun.
We’re here to support you — pajamas and all.
