Get involved in caucuses
If you’ve ever thought that you should get involved in politics–here’s a chance for you. The Marshall County political parties will Caucus on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022. When I was in high school government class, I was told that if you don’t participate in a political party or vote in a primary, you miss out on half the vote, meaning that you don’t have a voice in who runs for the party. So your best bet to make your voice heard is to get involved in party politics. This is not a presidential year caucus that makes all the national news, but it’s a mid-cycle caucus that is used for party building.
So, it’s a great time to get to know local people and how the system works. Volunteer for something however little or much time you have. Just tell the party leaders at the caucus who you are and what you are interested in doing–make a few phone call, put out signs, help make the party platform, manage the party’s finances, play in your band for a fundraiser, go to a convention, run for an office, walk in a parade, be a cheerleader for a campaign. There are all kinds of things to do, and most of them are both fulfilling and a lot of fun.
