Don’t miss ‘Terms of Endearment’

Theatre-goers have only three more opportunities to see “Terms of Endearment” on the Miller Middle School stage. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, Saturday, April 29, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 31.

I saw the show last Saturday and was treated to quality theatre in every sense of the word. Director Lisa Naig and Assistant Director Barb Lagesculte of the Marshalltown Community Theatre showcased powerful performances in this emotional and satisfying production.

The show is the story of a mother and a daughter as they navigate through the uncertain paths of the daughter’s troubled marriage and the mother’s late-in-life romance. The cast, direction and pacing are all wonderful — but the chemistry between the mother (played by Lana Bradstream) and the daughter (played by Lydia Lillibridge) makes this show a standout theatrical experience. As mother and daughter, Bradstream and Lillibridge control the stage and convincingly demonstrate all of the emotions at play in parent/child relationships — the love, the self-doubt, the anxiety, and the longing for a perfect relationship that somehow never is achieved.

These actresses are top notch and this show is top notch. Go see it — this coming Friday or Saturday evening, or Sunday afternoon.

Starting at $4.38/week.
