The Earth Lives
The earth is alive in its own way and can survive on its own. The earth can handle pollution caused by an or nature. It can burn it up in the atmosphere or wash it out of the sky by heavy rain. People need not worry about the erath, it can take care of itself. God gave the earth more weapons of mass destruction than any army that ever existed. Earthquakes can split the earth and swallow whole armies. Lighting strikes can wreck havoc on anything it hits. Tsunamis, hurricanes and tornadoes can destroy things on water and land. Flood waters go their own way and can destroy whatever gets in its way.
The big problem with all this power is the earth does not have the power to discriminate between good and bad. God said He does not show favoritism, it will rain on the just and the unjust alike. I believe as sin increases in the world we will see worse disasters. The reason I believe this is when sin was concentrated on Christ at the cross, the earth erupted, the sun’s light failed for three hours, the earth shook and rocks were split and tombs were opened.
People God sometimes uses the weather to do His bidding, like Pharaoh’s army destroyed by a wall of water, Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed by sulfur and fire raining down from the sky and in the desert the ground opened up and swallowed a group of rebellious people. Psalms 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” We turn away from God at our own peril.
For you skeptics that don’t believe in God or read the Bible, I suggest you read “Counting to God” by Douglas Ell. He will make you think and he will light your fire, unless your matches are wet. In his book he shows the difference between real science and belief system of scientism, which is pushed by the academics and the news media. Douglas found God through real science and mathematics, not scientism.
Christmas is a good time to check the condition of your soul.
