Clark named a Lieberman finalist, B1G honoree

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa junior Caitlin Clark is a finalist for the 2023 Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday. Clark won the award in 2022.

The list is comprised of five student-athletes who are currently in the running for the 24th annual Nancy Lieberman Award, which recognizes the best point guard in women’s college basketball. The list is chosen based on their floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills.

This season, Clark averaging 27.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game for the seventh-ranked Hawkeyes.

Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies will open up on Friday so your fans can vote for their favorite players in the final round.

Clark also was recognized as Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

This marks Clark’s 18th weekly award from the conference, which is third-most in conference history.

Clark led the Hawkeyes to their fourth AP Top 10 win of the season versus No. 2 Indiana. She registered 34 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to win. It was her 12th career 30-point performance against an AP-ranked foe.
