Greazel garners All-American
Former Bobcat named to GCAA honorable mention squad
CEDAR RAPIDS — The Kirkwood Community College men’s golf team recently won the program’s first NJCAA National Championship, and 2022 Marshalltown High School graduate Grant Greazel has since earned All-American status.
Greazel tied for 23rd in the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship on May 23-26 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind., shooting 73-76-73-76–298 on the par-72 course. The Eagles won with a four-day total of 1,168, holding off Parkland College with its runner-up total of 1,176. Walters State won a playoff against defending national champion South Mountain to claim third place after both teams shot 1,180.
On Wednesday, Greazel was named honorable mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Greazel was the Eagles’ third-leading scorer in the national tournament, and for the season his adjusted scoring average was 73.58.
Eight golfers were named to the All-American first team by the GCAA, while 13 more were honored as second-team selections. Greazel was one of just five golfers to be named to the honorable mention squad.
Greazel played in the Class 4A boys’ fall state golf meet three times in high school, starting with the team’s sixth-place finish in his freshman campaign of 2018. Individually, Greazel took 13th as a junior and ninth as a senior at the state meet.
