Iowa men announce home slate
IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa men’s basketball team released its 20-game Big Ten Conference schedule live last week on the Big Ten Network.
Iowa will play six of its first eight regular-season games at home. The Nov. 4 opener against Texas A&M Commerce will be the earliest regular-season game in program history.
The first three regular season games against Texas A&M Commerce (Nov. 4), Southern (Nov. 7) and South Dakota (Nov. 12) will be part of the Kenny Arnold Classic. Arnold played for the Hawkeyes from 1979-82, helping lead the program to its third Final Four in 1980 and a Big Ten regular-season championship in 1979. He passed away in 2019.
The Hawkeyes will play three neutral-site opponents — Washington State (Nov. 15 in Moline, Ill.), Utah State (Nov. 22 in Kansas City, Mo.) and Utah (Dec. 21 in Sioux Falls, S.D.).
The Hawkeyes will play a total of 18 home games (and an exhibition) inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa will open its Big Ten slate at home against Northwestern (Dec. 3) before traveling to Michigan (Dec. 7) for the early portion of the league schedule.
The Hawkeyes open the 2025 calendar year with a road game at Wisconsin (Jan. 3) for a second straight season.
Iowa will play back-to-back conference road games three times during the regular season — road dates at USC (Jan. 14) and UCLA (Jan. 17), at Rutgers (Feb. 12) and Maryland (Feb. 16) and at Illinois (Feb. 25) and Northwestern (Feb. 28).
The Hawkeyes will play four weekend home games (three Saturday, one Sunday) with three against Big Ten foes.
Iowa will also play two Friday home games, including one against Penn State on Jan. 24.
The Hawkeyes have a stretch of five home games over a seven-game span from Dec. 12-Jan. 11 with three non-conference home contests and league games against Nebraska (Jan. 7) and Indiana (Jan. 11).
Iowa will not play on Super Bowl Sunday for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Five of the team’s final eight Big Ten games will be played on the road.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse from March 12-16.
Iowa will host Minnesota Duluth in an exhibition game on Friday, Oct. 25.
Start times and television information will be announced at a later date.
