STC football suffers another winless season

TAMA — The South Tama football team was saddled with its second-straight winless season after falling 54-6 to Class 3A No. 9 Solon in Friday’s finale.

The Trojans have suffered 25 consecutive losses dating back to a Sept. 2, 2022, victory over Saydel.

In the loss to Solon, the Trojans were held to 134 yards of total offense. Quarterback Tanner Large was 3-for-4 passing for 22 yards. Eric Medina had 10 carries for 55 yards, and Cody Blocker added 13 carries for 41 yards and South Tama’s fourth-quarter touchdown.

Blocker also led the STC defense with 10 tackles, while Kyle Youngbear added 7.5 stops. Large recovered two fumbles and Tyrus Clegg got one as well as South Tama won the turnover battle, 3-1.

Solon quarterback Ty Bell went 11-for-17 passing for 116 yards and three touchdowns, while Eli Kampman was 7-for-9 for 63 yards. Kampman also caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Bell, while Owen Einwalter had three catches for nine yards with two TDs.

Running back Eddie Johnson had 10 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and he also recovered a fumble for a TD for Solon (7-2).
