Feldman a unanimous pick

Six Marshalltown seniors named to all-Alliance volleyball squad

T-R FILE PHOTO - Marshalltown senior outside hitter Kennedy Feldman (6) goes up for the attack against Waterloo East during their Iowa Alliance Conference North Division volleyball match on Sept. 17 at the Roundhouse. Feldman repeated as a first-team all-conference selection and was a unanimous pick this fall.

The Marshalltown High School volleyball team ranked as the top offense in its conference, and a number of Bobcats were rewarded accordingly.

MHS senior outside hitter Kennedy Feldman was voted to the all-Iowa Alliance Conference North Division first team for the second year in a row, headlining the Bobcats’ postseason honors.

Fellow senior Gaby Estabrook, Marshalltown’s setter, was promoted from honorable mention a year ago to earn first-team selection for the first time.

Feldman was one of four unanimous choices for the eight-player first team after finishing near the top of the conference in a number of statistical categories. She ranked second with 41 kills during North Division play, was third in digs (55), and seventh in kill efficiency (.193), serving percentage (90.6), and service aces (10).

Estabrook was at the center of the Bobcats’ vaunted attack, handing out 81 assists to rank second in the Alliance North.

Marshalltown had a trio of second-team selections in seniors Ellie Hughes, Madison Rogers and Laney Danielson, and one honorable mention in fellow senior Olivia Holmgren. This marked the first all-conference accolades for all four Bobcats.

Hughes was fourth in the conference with 52 assists, and seventh in both kills (28) and blocks (7). Rogers, a middle hitter, was first in serving percentage (97.2), second in digs (64) and aces (11), third in kill efficiency (.234), fourth in kills (38) and sixth in blocks (9). Danielson came away fifth in kills (37), eighth in kill efficiency (.157) and ninth in digs (40), while Holmgren was fourth in blocks (11).

The Bobcats (14-22) went 3-1 in Alliance North Division play to place second in the final league standings, trailing only Ames (4-0).
