MCC men knock off 2nd-rated DMACC
BOONE — The Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team matched its season-high with 10 3-pointers while holding DMACC to its season-low scoring output in an 85-67 triumph over the previously unbeaten Bears on Tuesday night.
The Tigers improved to 6-1 while knocking the NJCAA Division II No. 2-ranked Bears back to 6-1 as well. DMACC had scored an average of 96.3 points per game in starting the season 6-0 before falling at home to MCC.
DJ Hamilton and Richard Udoagwa scored a team-leading 17 points to pace Marshalltown. Justice Small had 16 points and Jayden Hill added 15 as the Tigers pulled away from DMACC.
The host Bears were within 38-35 at halftime, but MCC outscored DMACC 47-32 the rest of the way.
Trevian Carson scored a game-high 24 points to lead DMACC.
Marshalltown is back in action Saturday on the road with a 3 p.m. contest against Iowa Western CC in Council Bluffs.
