SPORTS SHORTS: Bobcat bowlers split with Bulldogs
OTTUMWA — The Marshalltown girls’ bowling team fell to unbeaten Ottumwa on Tuesday, getting outscored 2,455-2,139 at Champion Bowl.
The Bobcats (1-2) were led by Devin Peterson, who posted a 329 series thanks to a team-high 173 game. Sydney May rolled a 295 series, Kenedy Lammert came away with a 291, Ariana Villagomez got a 286 and Camillya Thomas added a 275.
Mackenzie Clubb led Ottumwa (3-0) with a 444 series.
The Marshalltown boys escaped with a narrow victory, edging the host Bulldogs 2,797-2,726. Statistics were not available as of press time.
MBC hosting youth basketball camp during holiday
The Marshalltown Basketball Club is hosting a Winter Break Basketball Camp on Saturday, Dec. 28, for boys and girls in grades 1-6.
The camp will be held at the Marshalltown High School auxiliary gymnasium from 9-11 a.m. and will be filled with a variety of fun skill-development games, competitions and live scrimmages.

MCC basketball putting on Tiger Hoops Clinic for youngsters
Marshalltown Community College is hosting the Tigers Hoops Clinic on Sunday, Jan. 5, form 2-4 p.m. at the Student Activity Center for boys and girls in grades 1-6.
The camp will be conducted by MCC men’s basketball coach Ryan Flack and his team, focusing on offensive and defensive fundamentals, shooting mechanics, and ball handling and dribbling. There will also be competitions and prizes.
Cost is $40 for the camp, and a T-shirt is included.

8 Hawkeyes named AP All-Big Ten
IOWA CITY — Eight University of Iowa football student-athletes – junior Kaleb Johnson, senior Jay Higgins, senior Connor Colby, senior Kaden Wetjen, junior Gennings Dunker, senior Logan Jones, senior Sebastian Castro and senior Jermari Harris — have been named Associated Press All-Big Ten selections, it was announced Tuesday by the AP.
Iowa had five first-team selections — Castro, Colby, Higgins, Johnson and Wetjen — the most of any team in the expanded 18-team league. Johnson and Penn State tight end Tyler Warren were the only unanimous first-team selections by the voting panel of 21 media members who cover the conference.
