Marshalltown’s Lyle “Butch” Baer was honored on Saturday, Jan. 18, as the winner of the Harold “Pinky” Primrose Award, which is presented annually by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association at its awards banquet. The award is presented to a former high school baseball player who has distinguished himself within his community, district, state or national level through his profession. Baer, a Marshalltown High School graduate and the longtime voice of the Bobcats as public address announcer, has also served as PA announcer for the Iowa High School State Baseball Tournament since 1993.
