EUGENE, Ore. — Addison O’Grady’s 17-footer as time expired missed the mark and the Iowa women’s basketball team suffered its fifth-straight loss, a 50-49 setback at Oregon on Sunday evening.

The Hawkeyes (12-7, 2-6) led by as many as 15 points in the first half of what would eventually become their fifth consecutive loss. It’s Iowa’s first such streak since 2013.

The five losses have come by an average of just 4.8 points.

Oregon (14-5, 5-3) held the Hawkeyes without a field goal during a stretch of more than 10 minutes in the second half to rally back from a double-digit deficit at the intermission, 32-22.

“We showed a lot of character, a lot of heart — and then made the plays,” said Oregon head coach Kelly Graves, whose team improved to 12-1 at home this season.

Iowa led 41-31 with 3:52 left in the third but didn’t score for the next 9 minutes, 9 seconds — with no field goals for 10:42 — as the Ducks went on a 13-0 run to take the lead for good.

Phillipina Kyei led Oregon with 12 points and Deja Kelly added 10 in the win.

Sydney Affolter led Iowa with 10 points and 15 rebounds, and O’Grady also scored 10 points as the Hawkeyes played without Hannah Stuelke, who was sidelined after being diagnosed with a concussion in Thursday’s home loss against Nebraska.

Ava Heiden added eight points off the bench for Iowa, which plays Wednesday at Washington.
