Cash Johnston

STATE CENTER — Cash Johnston banked in a shot from the lane as time expired to lift the West Marshall boys’ basketball team to a 62-61 victory over Baxter in their non-conference game here Thursday.

The two teams were tied at 49-all going into the fourth quarter, and Baxter (10-7) led by one, 61-60, with eight seconds left. West Marshall’s play worked out and Johnston caught the ball in the lane and delivered the deciding shot at the buzzer.

Johnston finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Lucas Barnes had 17 points and six rebounds to help lead the Trojans (9-7). AJ Dee added 11 points and DJ Ridout chipped in with seven.

Baxter’s Eli Dee led all scorers with 35 points.
