STATE CENTER — Bella Borgos scored a game-high 21 points and the West Marshall girls’ basketball team advanced to the Class 3A Region 3 finals with a 54-30 win over West Delaware here Wednesday night.

The host Trojans (18-5) held a slim 17-16 lead after the first quarter before holding the Hawks (14-9) to six points or fewer in each of the final three periods.

Borgos made West Marshall’s only two 3-pointers, but both came in a second quarter in which the Trojans pulled ahead to a 30-19 halftime advantage.

Lily Zahnd added nine points and Kinley Johnston tallied eight off the bench to help West Marshall get back to the regional finals for the third time in the last four years.

West Delaware’s leading scorer was Brooke Krogmann, who got 10 points. She entered averaging 19.5 points per game. Josie McMahon added nine points for the Hawks.
