Angelo Ferrari

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa freshman Angelo Ferrari has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.

The Melissa, Texas, native earned the distinction after defeating third-ranked Dustin Plott of Oklahoma State, 6-3, in sudden victory on Sunday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes won the dual over the second-ranked Cowboys, 21-16.

Ferrari is the third Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season (Kyle Parco on Jan. 9 and Drake Ayala on Jan. 23)
