COLLEGE HOOPS: Crooks scores career-high as ISU upends No. 14 K-State

AMES — Audi Crooks put Iowa State on her shoulders in the third quarter, scoring 14 of her career-high 36 points as the Cyclones blew past No. 14 Kansas State 85-63 in their regular season finale on Sunday.

With a one-point lead to start the second half, Crooks, a 6-foot-3 sophomore center, was 6-for-6 from the floor plus two free throws in the third quarter as the Cyclones (21-10, 12-6) outscored K-State 27-15 to take over the game. Senior Emily Ryan scored 17 points and dished 10 assists in her final regular-season game. Kelsey Joens added 10 points and Addy Brown pulled down 10 rebounds to go with her nine points.

Temira Poindexter scored 17 points and Serena Sundell added 10 points, six rebounds and six assists for Kansas State (25-6, 13-5).

No. 9 Iowa State avenges loss to No. 22 Arizona

AMES — Milan Momcilovic scored 17 points as No. 9 Iowa State survived a late scare from No. 22 Arizona for an 84-67 win on Saturday night.

Tamin Lipsey added 15 for the Cyclones (22-7, 12-6 Big 12) while Curtis Jones and Nate Heise each contributed 12 points off the bench. Brandton Chatfield scored 10 points for a new season-high with Iowa State.

Jaden Bradley scored 18 points while KJ Lewis added 13 off the bench to lead the Wildcats (19-10, 13-5), who have lost four of their last six games.

The Cyclones turned the tables on the Wildcats after suffering an overtime loss in Tucson on Jan. 27.

Hawkeyes handle Badgers in second half

IOWA CITY — The Iowa women’s basketball team dominated Wisconsin in the second half to capture an 81-66 victory in Sunday’s regular-season finale.

Iowa closes at 20-9 for the year with a 10-8 mark in the Big Ten Conference, while Wisconsin finishes at 13-16 overall and 4-14 in league play. The two teams face off again in the Big Ten Tournament, meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Indianapolis.

Lucy Olsen led the Hawkeyes with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while Hannah Stuelke had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds. Sydney Affolter and Addison O’Grady added 10 points apiece.

Iowa and Wisconsin were tied at halftime, 36-all, before the Hawkeyes outscored the Badgers 45-30 in the second half.

Serah Williams led Wisconsin with 18 points and 10 boards.
