Cyclones are one of last four in

AMES — The Iowa State women’s basketball team was one of the “Last Four In,” but the Cyclones are in nonetheless.

The Cyclones are going to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth year in a row, but they’ll have to play their way into the field of 64. Iowa State will meet Princeton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Purcell Pavilion in Notre Dame, Ind., for the right to be the No. 11 seed that faces No. 6 seed Michigan (22-10) on Friday.

Iowa State (22-11) was the seventh-seeded team for the Big 12 Conference Tournament, falling to Baylor in the quarterfinals before earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Cyclones have played in 16 of the last 18 NCAA Tournaments.

Princeton (21-7), like Iowa State, was one of the last four teams to make the “Big Dance,” and it marks the sixth year in a row for the Tigers, too.

Princeton is one of three Ivy League programs to make the tournament, marking a record for the conference. Columbia also earned an 11-seed, while Ivy League Tournament champion Harvard got a 10-seed.

Princeton and Columbia represent just the third and fourth time the Ivy League has had an at-large qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.

Starting at $4.38/week.
