Kyle Smith was a standout performer in the Iowa Alliance Conference again this winter, and the accolades are there to prove it.
Smith was a unanimous selection to the all-Alliance North Division squad for the second year in a row after helping the Marshalltown boys’ basketball team tie for third place in the five-team league.
Smith was the top point-getter in conference play and second-leading rebounder as the Bobcats finished 3-5 in a league won by state qualifier Ames. The Little Cyclones went 8-0 in North Division action and were well represented in the all-Alliance squad with three first-team selections.
Smith scored a league-high 120 points in conference play, averaging 15.0 points per game, while his 7.2 rebounds per contest were second-best as well. He made the most field goals (44), second-most 3-pointers (19), and had the highest free-throw percentage (72.2) among players with at least 15 attempts.
Smith was one of two repeat unanimous first-team selections (Jamison Poe, Ames) and the only Bobcat with previous mention on the all-conference squad.

Three more Marshalltown players received honorable mention all-conference: senior forward LaMar Johnson, junior forward Jacob Hayes and sophomore guard Drake Gersema. It marks the first all-Alliance honor for all three Bobcats.
Johnson averaged 6.9 points per game during league play and was among the league leaders in field goal percentage (52.4). Hayes wasn’t far behind in that department (46.0) after averaging 7.2 points per conference contest.
Gersema finished ninth in scoring average (9.0), 13th in rebounding (4.2), third in assists (3.1) and 11th in steals (1.2) in his first season on the varsity squad.
