Bobcat girls blast past host Riverhawks, 10-1
MASON CITY — Marshalltown girls tennis handled Mason City for a 10-1 victory in dual play at Mason City High School on Thursday.
Kennedy Feldman held on for a straight-set win at No. 1 singles over Tamar Lewerke, 6-2, 7-5, and teamed up with Kate Sandvick to win at No. 1 doubles over Lewerke and Estella Huesman, 6-1, 6-1.
Kate Hauser, Lily Zahnd and Reese Jensen all won their singles matches in straight sets; Ellie Downs battled for a tiebreak with Lily Clausen before coming up short at No. 6 singles — Clausen won 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
The Bobcats swept doubles play in straight sets; Hauser and Zahnd, Jensen and Downs, Ellie Hughes and Rachel Jones, and Karsyn Price and Bella Avise handled the Riverhawk competition.
Marshalltown hits the road again Friday to take on Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
